Class Overview
Are your Borders simply boring? Do you just slap on some strips of fabric to add length and width to your quilt? Take your borders from blah to beautiful with the built-in tools in EQ8. This fun class will explore a variety of borders and border styles from pieced, flying geese, applique, checkerboard and more. Use borders to jazz up a panel or medallion quilt. Your designs are limited only by your imagination.
NOTE: This class moves at a faster pace than the beginner classes. This class is for you if you have taken a beginner EQ8 class or if you have some experience designing quilts with EQ8.

- Review the Borders tab on the Quilt Worktable
- Take a tour of over 20 border styles
- Learn how to add, remove and insert borders
- Design quilts with simple and corner-block borders
- Design quilts with a variety of border styles like pieced, flying geese, ribbon and checkerboard
- Learn how to use the Auto Borders tool on the Design tab of the Quilt Worktable
- Explore applique curves and swags
- Create a scallop border
- Explore asymmetric borders and negative space
- Look at Quick Quilts with border treatments

- Students who have not taken a beginner class but are pretty computer savvy and are confident in designing basic quilts

About EQ Academy
EQ Academy is a workshop for students wanting to learn how to use their EQ8 software. EQ8 classes are either half day (3 hours) or full day (6 hours) with an hour lunch break in between sessions. Each instructor brings years of experience and will provide practical content for the use of software.
How to fill your days: It is not required that you attend all days of the event. You may enroll in as many classes as you like. If you do plan to attend all days, we recommend filling your days with as many classes as you can. Click here to see a complete schedule (PDF) of all the classes being offered.
These are EQ8 computer classes. There will be no sewing during class time.
