Class Overview

Are your Borders simply boring? Do you just slap on some strips of fabric to add length and width to your quilt? Take your borders from blah to beautiful with the built-in tools in EQ8. This fun class will explore a variety of borders and border styles from pieced, flying geese, applique, checkerboard and more. Use borders to jazz up a panel or medallion quilt. Your designs are limited only by your imagination.

  • Review the Borders tab on the Quilt Worktable
  • Take a tour of over 20 border styles
  • Learn how to add, remove and insert borders
  • Design quilts with simple and corner-block borders
  • Design quilts with a variety of border styles like pieced, flying geese, ribbon and checkerboard
  • Learn how to use the Auto Borders tool on the Design tab of the Quilt Worktable
  • Explore applique curves and swags
  • Explore asymmetric borders and negative space
  • Look at Quick Quilts with border treatments
  • Explore sashing with pieced blocks and clever designs
