Class Overview
Looking for a one-day beginner course before you jump into the content-specific classes at EQ Academy? Start your EQ Academy weekend with this fun and motivating class to tune up your EQ8 skills. You will cover the key features in EQ8 so you’re ready to explore the other topic-based classes on Friday and Saturday. This course will help provide a smooth transition into the other EQ8 topics you’re excited to learn!
NOTE: This is a beginner class but moves at a faster pace than the 2-day beginner class with Mary Ellen Kranz. If you need a slower-paced class with more repetition as you work through the lessons, please check out the 2-day beginner class with Mary Ellen Kranz.
Course Topics
- Review of project files, Sketchbook, toolbars and Home Screen
- Understanding the basics of each of the three worktables in EQ8
- Selecting and using built-in layouts for quilt design
- Setting, rotating, flipping and erasing blocks in quilt layouts
- Searching for blocks to add to projects
- Searching for fabrics to add to projects
- Using the Paintbrush, Spraycan and Swap tools to color quilts and blocks
- Importing a fabric scan
- Drawing simple pieced blocks
- Drawing applique with pre-defined shape tools
- Adding multiple borders of various sizes and styles
- Review of various pattern printing options
Who Should Take this Course
- Students who took the beginner 2-day class in the spring or fall last year and need a refresher course
- Students who have not taken a beginner class but are pretty computer savvy and learn quickly
