Looking for a one-day beginner course before you jump into the content-specific classes at EQ Academy? Start your EQ Academy weekend with this fun and motivating class to tune up your EQ8 skills. You will cover the key features in EQ8 so you’re ready to explore the other topic-based classes on Friday and Saturday. This course will help provide a smooth transition into the other EQ8 topics you’re excited to learn!
If you have not taken the 2-day beginner class at EQ Academy, or similar beginner class at another venue, we highly recommend that you take either of those options before taking this class. This class is for those who’ve taken a beginner class and looking for a refresher before jumping into more topic-based classes.

- Students who have not taken a beginner class but are pretty computer savvy and learn quickly

- Overview of the set up for a new project and setting up your sketchbook
- Use EQ8 pre-sets to challenge your designing skills and keep it simple to accomplish
- Create quick and easy blocks using blocks in the program and editing them to create new blocks
- Change the looks of the blocks with the fabric and solid color options
- Use blocks in various quilt layouts for a unique look
- Use the WreathMaker for easy applique/motif designs
- Use the stencil tool to enhance or complement a block design
- Set designs on Layers 2 and 3
- Use the Paintbrush tools for coloring various 1 block quilt layouts
- Add plain blocks for use in your layout
- How and when to use Symmetry to change the quilt layout
- Add more color options to the solid color palette
- Import fabric images
- Import blocks from another project

The beginning class gives you a firm grounding in the basics, and gave me the confidence to move forward with the specialty classes. About EQ Academy
EQ Academy is a workshop for students wanting to learn how to use their EQ8 software. EQ8 classes are either half day (3 hours) or full day (6 hours) with an hour lunch break in between sessions. Each instructor brings years of experience and will provide practical content for the use of software.
How to fill your days: It is not required that you attend all days of the event. You may enroll in as many classes as you like. If you do plan to attend all days, we recommend filling your days with as many classes as you can. Click here to see a complete schedule (PDF) of all the classes being offered.
These are EQ8 computer classes. There will be no sewing during class time.
